The latest single from Brazilian thrash trio, Black Pantera, creates a sense of suffocating claustrophobia down to the guts as that mantra is repeated over and over again.
“I can’t breath” impossible not to feel it in your lungs as it is said. The repetitive riff and persistent vocals force a crushing sense of paranoia onto the listener, while pleas against police brutality creeping in from the background create a knot in the stomach. As the song grows the knot moves, tightens and becomes a stabbing pain in the chest until you almost feel your vision slip away.
Direct, tense and threatening, I Can’t Breathe makes it impossible to escape the fact that now is the time for fighting back, now is the time for anger. It is coming for you, whether you like it or not.
